Chiropractor Focuses On Pain Relief and Overall Wellness Care
Posted on 2012-05-16 13:46:23
Pain management is one of the most common reasons you visit a chiropractor. Many of our patients associate back pain and neck pain treatments with chiropractic care. However, there is another huge benefit to receiving maintenance chiropractic care and that is PREVENTION. Wellness care, also referred to as preventative care, is making more and more sense to folks.
Think of it this way- we brush our teeth every day. We try to eat good every day. We try to exercise. We wash our body every day. Why? Prevention, that’s why. We don’t do these things because we have pain or some other symptom and we’re trying to correct the symptom. So why wait until we have symptoms to utilize chiropractic care? The answer lies in understanding what chiropractic care really does for us.
Many folks ask me “when should somebody start chiropractic maintenance care?” I explain to them that at birth is about the right time. They give me a look of bewilderment and I explain further; at birth, the infant has all the moving parts that we adults have, it just isn’t hard bone yet. Birth is a pretty traumatic event for mom and baby. It’s an excellent idea to have both mom and baby checked as soon as possible after delivery. You see, the baby can’t tell us that they are hurting or that they don’t feel good. So, it’s a good idea to have them checked early and then on occasion to make sure they are OK. Why wait until they are 12 or 16 or 21 before they tell us that they have pain or a problem. Now the problem has had all those years to manifest into a bigger problem.

Back pain is a familiar complaint heard daily in our family chiropractic care clinic. Our Lexington chiropractor will help alleviate back pain, neck pain and other musculoskeletal pain caused by personal injuries, auto accident injuries and sports injuries. He will design a chiropractic care plan that best fits your wellness care needs. Chiropractic adjustments work to align your neck and spine which alleviates many types of pain in your back. They can help guide herniated discs back into place and help restore spinal alignment. Physiotherapy is used for muscle injuries to enhance healing and pain relief for muscle strains and ligament sprains. Massage therapy is a good companion for both chiropractic care and physiotherapy. It helps relax muscles and stimulate blood flow for faster
Strains, Sprains and Other Causes of Back Pain
Muscular strain causes immediate pain in the back. It can happen when unexpected force, twist, or pull is applied to the back which causes tears in the muscles triggering pain in certain areas of your back. Auto accident injuries and sports injuries can result in muscle strain in your back.
Herniated discs are a third cause of back pain. A herniated disc compresses the spinal nerve where it exits the spinal column. They are caused by repetitive motions such as sitting for long periods or lifting heavy loads improperly. Herniated disc pain is regularly felt at the site of the injury and along the affected nerve.

Ideas For Icy Car Windshields
Posted on 2011-12-26 08:10:44
Keep your headlights clear with car wax!
Just wipe ordinary car wax on your headlights. It contains special water repellents that will prevent that messy mixture from accumulating on your lights – lasts 6 weeks. I use this idea in our glass surround on the shower. Works beautifully!
-
Squeak-proof your wipers with rubbing alcohol!
Wipe the wipers with a cloth saturated with rubbing alcohol or ammonia. This one trick can make badly streaking, squeaking wipers change to near perfect silence and clear.
-
Ice-proof your windows with vinegar!
Frost on it’s way? Just fill a spray bottle with three parts vinegar to one part water… spray it on all your windows at night. In the morning, they’ll be clear of icy mess. Vinegar contains acetic acid, which raises the melting point of water—preventing water from freezing!
-
Prevent car doors from freezing shut with cooking spray!
Spray cooking oil on the rubber seals around car doors and rub it in with a paper towel. The cooking spray prevents water from melting into the rubber.
-
Fog-proof inside your windshield with shaving cream!
Spray some shaving cream on the inside of your windshield and wipe off with paper towels. Shaving cream has many of the same ingredients found in commercial defoggers.
-
De-ice your lock in seconds with hand sanitizer!
Just put some hand sanitizer gel on the key and the lock and the problems solved! Of course that means you’ll have to carry the hand sanitizer in your pocket or your purse. Remember that if it’s in your car, the lock is frozen and you can’t get to it….but you knew that!
